Lock up

We are finally at lock up stage. Most of the exterior work is done except for downpipes and rain-water heads. Internal painting is underway and tiling will start soon. However we are running out of time for pre-Christmas handover, so now it's likely that handover will occur in late-January. It's been a long journey and the wait is kind of frustrating. I hope it is all worth it in the end.

Upper floor

Much to my surprise the contractors had left the construction stairs unlocked - thus for the first time I am able to access the upper floor. The two smaller bedrooms seem more spacious than I anticipated.

External colours and plastering

External painting was done last week - the feature colour didn't turn out as we expected but nevertheless it looks pretty cool.

Internal walls

Things are definitely moving now - This week they have done the internal walls for the lower level.

Progress so far...

My apologies for not updating this blog for the past several months. I have been extremely busy and just haven't got around to keep this blog up to date.

After weeks of idling and a switchover to new site supervisor, things are finally moving with the house. Hopefully it will be completed before the end of the year.

Progress so far include:

- Roofing
- Rendering of external walls
- External painting of the upper level
- Plumbing
- Electrical wiring
- Network wiring
- Insulation
- Interior lining by the end of this week

Here are some photos showing the progress in the last several months:

Walls Continued

Have been a bit lazy to blog in the past week or so...lucky the builder isn't in the same mood as me, as they have completed the installation of the walls.

Things still to do is the rendering and the painting of the external walls. Still the house looks much more impressive now the walls are there. Can't wait to get the roof up as well!

Walls

The hebel was delivered on site during last weekend so the external walls should be installed this week. As the Easter weekend is coming up, I don't think they'll let all the building material hang around on site.

The hebel walls are pretty good - the surface finish is amazing, it's so flat even without the rendering. Seems like it's the way to go for external walls.

Doors and Windows

This set of pictures was actually taken sometime last week. It shows the windows and doors being installed to the frame in preparation for the external wall.

Framing 28/03/2009

Been away for work for this past week so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the progress that have been made - the frame is almost complete!

I can start picturing what it'll be like inside the house, and seeing the backyard is not as small as I thought. Perhaps it's even big enough for a lap pool :)

Framing 19/03/2009

Seems like something is happening everyday. The framing is progressively getting completed, with the inter-floor trusses been installed.

We could really see how the interior of the house is shaping up, even though it is the ground floor only. The 2.7m ceiling really creates a sense of space, which goes well with the positioning of the windows to create an intertwined atmosphere of light and space.

Framing 17/03/2009

All the framing materials were delivered on-site this past weekend, so we should expect the framing to progress quite nicely.

From the pictures you can see the house is starting to take shape - how exciting!

Framing Day 01

Everything moves relatively quickly at this stage of the building process...After discovering the material on-site yesterday, they have started the frame of the house today. It's like building a massive jigsaw puzzle - only it's my house they're playing with!

Frame Material

Approximately 2 weeks after the pouring of the slab, the timber for the frame of the house arrived on site. Apparently it was a struggle for the workers to fit it all in as there is actually not much room to move around.

These photos were taken yesterday (10/03/2009):

The Slab!

Wow double post for today! The pictures in the last post were taken yesterday...so I decided to go back today to see what else has been going on.

I was shocked to see the slab right there, freshly poured today. At this rate our house would be finished in no time...one could only hope :)

After much excitment, I got home and received the invoice from the builder, dated 20th of February - now that's efficiency! I guess they want me to show them the money.

As always, here are the pics:

Preparing the slab

After months of inactivity, I was utterly surprise to see the slab about to be laid. It is such a great feeling to see our block not barren anymore.

I have placed a number of coins in strategic positions around the house...hopefully the good fengshui will bring us some luck!

Anyway here are some pics:
